About The Artwork

It is a Red Gorilla and It is also the Hindu Monkey God/ Hanuman. Men who were born with a tail in some villages in India are believed to be the reincarnation of the monkey god. Many devotional worships to Hanuman. Hanuman's iconography and temples have been increasingly common. He is viewed as the ideal combination of "strength, heroic initiative and assertive excellence" and "loving, emotional devotion to his personal god Rama", as Shakti and Bhakti. He symbolizes the human excellence of inner self-control, faith, and service to a cause, hidden behind the first impressions of a being who looks like a Vanara.

My expressionist artworks are mainly themed around an imaginative pan-Asian cultural landscape, in which animals and women live harmoniously in a luscious paradise of colors and sensuality. I present a fairytale like world where women are Goddesses, symbols of enchantment and my mysterious attraction towards animal. Most of the paintings of women are Chinese features with unusual skin tone - turquoise; line green or magenta colors wearing traditional jewelries I adopted whole-heartedly the brush and ink technique deeply rooted in Chinese tradition combine with drip and pour from the Abstract Expressionism movement, and the freedom of my mind to create pure spontaneity at its core. The flow of matter and "happy accidents" are a great source of inspiration to me. I like to dilute acrylic paint to create soft watercolor effects, using Chinese ink and layering multiple transparent hues on either canvas or rice paper for a greater variety of texture and surprises. I started drawing and painting at a very early age but it wasn't until I the chance to study with the Christine Phipps, Leo Liu XuanQi, Koh Hwee Khoon, Anthony Chua Say Hua that I started taking my "hobby" seriously and gave myself real opportunities to develop my talent. I finally took the step in 2013 to mark my astounding debut on the art scene.
