I was lucky to visit Giant Panda Breeding Research Base (Chengdu, China) in June.
Visitors to the 165-acre compound can view panda behavior from above at the panda nursery, as well as at the adult enclosures, all of which are flanked with native bamboo. As one of the world’s most successful giant panda breeding center the research base also shows videos on panda behavior and teaches visitors about the myriad challenges of working with and breeding captive pandas. It is worth to visit the research center anyway ...
Chengdu Panda Park was founded in 1987. It started with 6 giant pandas that were rescued from the wild. By 2008, it had 124 panda births, and the captive panda population has grown to 83.
