Adversity in life taught Fay that creating art, restoring in nature, and healing at home, are the things that bring her most comfort and solace, health and peace, and surrounding herself in art is in itself healing. Fay always had a love of nature, spending her childhood in the Gloucestershire countryside. Fay often visited the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge where her early fascination of waterbirds, farm animals and other creatures began. Fay's intrigue for art began aged 11 whilst sitting by her Grandfather as he painted landscapes. Fay's talent for hyper-focus and hyper detailed art came to her at age 15 and since she has not stopped illustrating and painting. Fay learnt ink and watercolour at 15 and studied the pointillist work of Loughborough based artist Paulette Fedarb. Fay is also greatly inspired by William Morris, the Pre-Raphaelites, The Vienna Secession, and Japanese block print artists. Fay has a penchant for 'Byobu' Japanese folding screens often finished with gold. Fay has developed her own distinctive style across three decades and continues to evolve her work after travelling to her dream destination of Japan. Fay viewed first hand the 'Byobu' by Tomioka Tessai dating back to the late 19th Century. Fay is fascinated and constantly inspired by Japanese art, culture and nature. If she was asked to describe her unique style, Fay would say 'East-Asian Arts & Craft Hyper Detailed Maximal Pointillism.' Over the past 16 years, Fay has worked with dream clients and well-loved brands such as The National Trust, The Royal Horticultural Society, Fortnum & Mason's, Liberty, Highgrove House and English Heritage. Proving that you can overcome adversity and make amazing things happen! In 2024, a period of remission, Fay was able to travel to Japan, a dream come true, to study the byobu screens of Japanese temples and ryokan. Fay has lived in Lichfield, Staffordshire, for 13 years, where she built her dedicated art studio in the style of a Japanese tea house. Her days are spent designing and embellishing my paintings, greeting cards and prints, hand packing every order with the utmost care. Fay is one of very few hyper-focussed pointillist artists in her field, she combines this technique with watercolour, acrylic and hand applied 24 carat gold. Fay spent several years in her home due to chronic illness, so transformed it into a sanctuary and celebration of art, which helped her to overcome her health battles.
