The painting captures the essence of Nyx, the Greek goddess of the night. In Greek mythology, Nyx is a powerful and beautiful deity who personifies the night. Above Nyx’s head, two Dolphins leap from the water. These are Oneiroi, the personifications of dreams and are considered the children of Nyx. They include Morpheus and his brothers, Phobetor (who brings nightmares) and Phantasos (who creates fantastical dreams). The Oneiroi emerge from their cave at night to bring dreams to mortals. The painting blends mythological references with symbolic imagery, inviting viewers to explore themes of divinity, nature’s cycles, and protection during the night.
