Painting: Oil on Canvas.
"In our town, the annual rodeo parade is a big deal. I find countless subjects there and the sunshine that I can count on sets them off in brilliant color. I catch the moving participants with my camera and take multiple shots from different angles.
I think this wrangler was trying to calm his pack horses in the midst of all the noise and distractions before the parade by circling them over and over. As a result, I had plenty of reference material. The unified colors of the mules and pack frames worked well with the sun-struck canvas and lighter horse and rider." -- SFG
Greaves' medium of choice has been, almost exclusively, traditional oil paint, like this work. She finds that it is a very flexible medium, allowing a variety of approaches. Her color combinations range from breathtaking harmonies, clear and pure, to subtly muted hues, quiet and delicate. Even the thickness of the paint can vary from thin, transparent color that glows to thick impasto whose ridges follow or oppose the form of the object.
This fine art painting is an original oil on stretched canvas. The work is unframed and of a standard size to allow you to choose framing suitable to your unique environment. Greaves uses professional materials to ensure that your purchase will last a lifetime. Signed front and back.
