Globally collected artist Deb Breton is an abstract expressionist artist living & working in Northern California, U.S. Hi, I'm Deb, In school, I was that quirky kid who was always drawing during English Lit., or backstage painting sets for the Drama Department. After graduating early, I dove headfirst into the fast-paced world of news at the Saint Petersburg Times. And at the apex of my “corporate career”, I was an artist and designer for such notable clients as Nestle, Warner Brothers, and the Dali Museum. But I wasn't happy with the hustle, and I missed getting my hands dirty working on my own creations. So, I picked up wood turning, and carving, which eventually led me full circle back to painting. Nowadays, you'll find me in my cozy, hippie studio working with acrylics, oils, ink, charcoal, spray paint, and even repurposed bits found on nature walks. My tools range from sponges, wire, rope, branches, squeegees, to fresh cut flowers as my brushes. I break many of the rules I was “taught”. But probably the hardest for me to learn was to step out of my own way and let creativity flow. My art is a reflection of my scattered mind —inspired by life's mysteries, nature, the universe and sometimes even the beat of my playlist. It's REALLY hard for me to stay on script—my ADHD ensures that. But I find my calm in painting, and through meditation & yogic breath work. It's fitting that I am an abstract expressionist painter. For me, art is about telling an emotional story that you feel with color. But it's also something deeper—it's about embracing who we truly are and celebrating what makes us unique. It's a reminder to honor our authentic selves in a world that often tries to box us in.
