About The Artwork

From a series of paintings titled, "A Sense of Isolation", a group of oil paintings depicting individuals whose minds appear to be somewhere else, as evidenced by their facial expression and what, if anything, they are paying attention to. They are people who are immersed in a sea of humanity, and may be as alone as someone standing in a quiet meadow or sitting in a dark apartment. Consciously or unconsciously, they are choosing not to be there. What appears to be a candid portrait, never actually happened. Other than the background, the image is an imagined gathering of people who never actually met. They have been placed in this context by the artist in order to invoke dialogue, tension, or isolation. The setting is a State Fair.
