About The Artwork
Hans Heysen was an Australian German award winning artist . in 1913 he painted a couple of cattle heading along a track between two large distinctively South Australian Ghost Gums towards a distant range. In 1973 my grandfather painted an appropriation of that work, and in 2017 I started working on a series of contemporary studies exploring these works. After locating and visiting the actual site, which took me back to certain streets in my childhood upbringing, the imagery opened up a flood of stories and memories, a veritable trove of visual adventures.
