coffee bean Painting

Is a single coffee bean its own entity or is it just a fraction of a whole? How many beans go into a single cup of coffee? I read somewhere that there are upwards of 3,500 beans in a single pound of coffee. It's difficult to imagine a single bean's worth when the numbers are so astronomical otherwise. With these thoughts in mind, I decided to study one tiny little bean on its own. It is, to my surprise, a grotesque little creature, and being the size of a common housefly, I promptly lost it in my studio after the painting was complete. Someday I may find it, but what's the bother? It's only one bean. . The color palette of this painting is largely neutral and warm. Metallic gold acrylic is painted in outline around the main subject and reflects light, which may not be apparent in the photos.
