Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Pastel, Charcoal, Oil on Canvas.

I aim to draw connections between advertising and politics. This is an abstract manifestation of a coffee commercial juxtaposed with the Greek flag, where I'm from. The coffee commercial in this case reads "Something new, something different." This phrase, while used in this advertisement in the '70's is used again in 2015 by current left-wing prime minister in Greece hinting 'change' and 'reformation'. The painting aims to capture the current melancholy of the political reality while covering it up with words and images of bright colors and hopeful slogans.
