Cold Water Painting

The idea for this painting was inspired by a chain of uncomfortable yet hilarious situations. Late spring this year, we were told that due to replacement of local water pipes,there will be no hot water in our neighborhood for several days. So me and a friend of mine decided to help each other bathe everyday with plastic bottles of heated water, not that we didn't have any other easier options but this seemed fun. It really was, and it got even more amusing when it snapped to us that we could film these moments in slow motion. The results were a blast indeed, and this painting is a framed segment from one of those videos. I chose to make an acrylic foundation and oil masks as it is one of my favorite combinations noticed in my recent works. The oils are active, saturated and offer a great spectrum for texture manipulation which is highly present in this painting. I believe that I left a great deal of mystery in this work for those who are not familiar with its background, but in a way that does not bother me , on the contrary , it might just be the charm of it.
