ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This new series of Color Maps reflects the colors, shapes and textures I see on my daily walks in Southern California. They are all 16x20 inches and use a variety of media including ink, acrylic paint, enamel, sand, oil sticks and other material on unstretched linen. I so enjoyed painting these and hope that the joy and optimism I felt is communicated! They are layered with many having four or five coats of material that reflects the shifting views of each of the neighborhoods over time. There are references to the leafs dropping from the Magnolia trees that line the parkway, the intersections of streets and crosswalks to the changing colors of the sky. Each painting is distinctive and has the ability to captivate when hung by itself or in a grouping. There are some of the series that I love as a group and have included images of how two or even three could be hung together. While I show them all vertical you could also install them horizontally. The paintings are shipped in a heavy duty cardboard tube and you can easily mount the painting on a cradled panel without any glass or you could frame it as you would a print with protective glass. I’m happy to share the easiest way that I’ve found to display this style of work. ABOUT LYNDA KEELER Lynda Keeler’s artwork is inspired by her daily walks through different California neighborhoods and influenced by contemporary and classic architecture and design. The vivid colors of flowers in front gardens in Hancock Park, a glimpse of a swimming pool through a side gate in Palm Springs, the massive boulders of Joshua Tree, a slanted roofline or the curves of a cul de sac are abstractly captured in the Road Maps and Color Maps series of paintings and sculptures. By walking through these areas daily she also can chart how the natural and built environments intersect in ways that can be in harmony or in conflict.
