The study of Rodion Shchedrin, a prominent Soviet and Russian composer and pianist, was painted by the artist in her London studio after an observation session of and personal interactions with the composer during his 1998 visit to London, where he presented his 'Concerto for Orchestra No. 5, Four Russian Songs' at the Royal Albert Hall.
