Jamel Sghaier Artist Born 15 November 1956 Tunis Live and work as Artist in Tunis,Bielefeld and Paris Education High School of Merchant Marine In 1982 Patented Master first class of Merchant Marine .Given up from marine career. From 1997 Dedicated exclusively to art Biography Self-taught visual artist ,currently living and working in Tunisia, Germany and France . After studying marine I started working as an officer on ships around the world.I was always attracted by the sea .After my shift I was often in my cabin painting on old charts. My travels gave me enough free time allowed to my artistic practice. I started in 1986 to show my work in several places in Tunis .My artwoks were for a short period figurative becoming abstract later. Currently in the same time as painting I'm working at wooden , metal ,acryl sculptures in mixed technics , also produces sound and video installations dealing with the human voice and articulations of words in different languages confronting and accumulatingdifferent sounds in a new shape. Apart from the exhibitions that I made in Tunisia, I have also shown my work in November 2005 at Ecart gallery in Osnabruck and in June 2007 at Dominikanerkirche Kunsthalle in Osnabruck, then in July 2008 at Gallery Jesse in Bielefeld.
