About The Artwork

This painting is from a series where the paintings are just titled with a number. This this is an ongoing series that deals purely with feelings about colour, shape and the spacial relationships between them. The shapes are made either from torn pieces of paper or created with daubs of paint. The art work is based on minimalist concepts of abstraction and reductionist forms and uses colour theory as well as 'impulse' or 'instinct' in order to create the final composition. Original art work material - Acrylic on paper Artwork dimensions unframed - 38 cm height x 48 cm width Frame dimensions (included a matt border) - 56 cm x 66 cm Shipped in a box

My interest in art started at an early age. I remember seeing books at home where I grew up in the 1970's. The books were about impressionism, surrealism and my favourite showed art from the DADA movement. In my teens I became obsessed with Andy Warhol and it was at this point that I realised making art was what I wanted to do. The Paintings you see on my Saatchi Art platform are in chronological order. The first paintings were made in 2018. They were created very precisely and accurately and are influenced by minimalist ideas. Through 2019 my work moved away from minimalist abstractions and started to veer more towards an expressionist style. Through 2020 and going into 2021, I am exploring ideas that attempt to strike a balance between a minimalist mindset and the spontaneity of an expressionist. The paintings are created using acrylic on heavyweight paper and sometimes I use charcoal, graphite and oil pastel. In the next few month I will be starting to execute my larger paintings on canvas.
