Contenta Flor Painting

Color and shape inspire my floral mandala paintings. Each petal is created free hand, there is no design work ahead of time, and each flower unfolds as a mystery in the process of creation. I blend my chosen tints, and begin with a clean brush on a blank canvas surface. As the flower takes shape, I begin to discover the natural pattern within, carefully watching how the palette of each petal interacts with the others and in the end bringing the entire flower into perspective, arranging the final petals surrounding the flower in a way to both accent and complete the painting. I use oil on canvas for its depth of feeling as well as its rich textures and palettes. The life in my paintings is the end result of my desire to convey joy, brilliance and balance.
