ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This work depicts a group of young men and women progressing confidently and stylishly through an urban environment. The setting seems to be bathed in bright summer light, suggested by the sharp contrasts and light tones that dominate the scene. The figures in the foreground, dressed in casual but chic clothes, evoke a semblance of modernity and dynamism. Each face is detailed with a finesse that reveals the varied emotions - confidence, nonchalance and sometimes even concentration. Bluish and white hues predominate, evoking a refreshing, summery atmosphere. The composition, with the vertical lines of the structures in the background and the arrangement of the silhouettes, guides the eye to a central point of convergence, creating a powerful visual impact. This meticulous arrangement of the figures and surrounding architectural elements accentuates the notion of movement and fluidity, making the scene almost cinematic. The choice of clothing – shorts, light shirts, sunglasses – reinforces the impression of casual and contemporary sophistication, typical of young urbanites in search of adventure and identity. We also notice the texture used by the artist, brushstrokes appear slightly visible, adding a tactile dimension to the work. Light and shadow play crucial roles, providing stunning depth and realism while maintaining a certain stylized character. Technical mastery and artistic vision combine here to capture not only a scene of modern life, but also a vibrant collective energy and urban effervescence that resonates with the viewer.

Delivery Time:

Born in Courrières in the North of France, I share my time between the North of France and Paris which inspires me many urban scenes including café terraces. I have always used oil paint because slow drying suits my technique better. I work in series by inspiring my surrounding, places I go to, objects I own and stage. In the series "Réflexions sur le temps qui passe", I treat the cars and Vespa in the manner of the "vanities" of the past by perforating the bodies, rusting them, thus translating the time that passes and which reduces to few things once prestigious vehicles. The parallel is obvious with our own existence. In the still lifes séries, I stage objects with a preference for metal and glass and using a palette of coloured grey and nuanced white so as to have a contemporary touch. In the series "Mes petites Nanas", I interpret scenes, situations, by putting in scene my daughter who is used to me as model (The comedy of the feelings, or the works on the small girls). Finally, the urban landscapes are inspired, as I said earlier, by my numerous stays in Paris where I live part of the year.
