Whether you are a sea lover or not, this piece is bound to capture your marine heart. This one of a kind piece is truly remarkable due to its use of luminous glow in the dark powders that light up in the dark. "Coral Reef" was inspired during one of my dives in the Great Barrier Reef of Australia. A magical, glowing world will be discovered in this colorful reef, due to the use of glow in the dark powders. When the lights are off this piece will illuminate and glow. "Coral Reef" will state its presence in any room, and is guaranteed to transcend the viewer into the underwater world. This artwork's remarkable ability to diffract light will results in rainbow-like colors that change with the angle of observation.
To create this piece I used pigments, gold dusts, inks and acrylics, glow in the dark powders along with high quality resin. I then used a blowtorch as my paintbrush to fuse and form the paints together onto a custom wooden panel. This unique layering technique creates a complexity of textures, multi-dimensions and depth. The paints require a dry time of at least 24-hours before coming back to the artwork for an additional layer. Because of such time-consuming layering process, it took me several weeks to complete this piece. "Coral Reef" is an exquisite piece and will capture the attention of any room.
