Cosmic Order is an expression of the interdependence of all aspects of the phenomenal world and the phenomena of our own existence. At center it is a depiction of a biological creature embedded in a culture with histories and languages and scientific hypothesis. Layers built up and removed repeatedly in the process of painting allude to the complexity of nature and our place in it. As a cultural symbol, the butterfly represents hope, transformation and joy, and its primary placement reflects an inner experience striving to overcome the limitations of linear space and time and communicate a transcendent message of optimism. The sub-title may seem opaque and mysterious but it is a system I have developed for classifying my work; embedding a codified order descriptive of the creative process, which further enriches the layers of meaning. (fire-wind) identifies the elemental archetype associated with the work, while STOP TGA 001100-101110 is the precise DNA codon which is sympathetically indicated by that I Ching hexagram. This large scale painting is on un-stretched canvas - for installation, I would recommend it to be mounted to a pole along the top in the style of a hanging scroll. It could also be stretched more traditionally on a wood canvas stretcher.
