Cotton Candy Painting

Greetings everyone my name is Anikka Mckeever I was born and raised in Philadelphia Pennsylvania "The City Of Brotherly Love". I have always had a passion for fashion, designs, artistic works of all kinds. Naturally I'm drawn to unique styles bold colors and out of the box creativity. I'm a hairstylist so working with colors, textures, and style formation is what I do. Although I have never had any formal training in art, I consider the ability to create to be a gift and amazing blessing. I think that as human beings we have all experience positive and negative things in our lives that changed and transformed us. Art has been a beautiful outlet and realization of myself that I never knew existed. I remember working on my first painting and my children and husband were like what are you doing. I said boldly "I'm painting", and we all laughed. But I really began to experience vision like glimpse of each piece. I saw the colors in my mind that would go into each painting. I listened to that inner voice and just went with it. Art is an expression of words we cannot speak. Our hands are the vessels by which true transformation and beauty flows through. This year I wanted to take a leap of faith and branch out with my artwork. So, partnering with Saatchi art was an amazing opportunity to meet other artist as well. And of course to share with the world my voice on canvas . I truly believe that the art claims the owner and not the owner claiming the art. We are drawn in by our God given senses. So when I'm painting these pieces, I know that I'm speaking to someone that have never spoken to. I only paint when the feeling comes to me, and I see clearly. It's never forced but it flows naturally and easily, and in those moments, I become one with the painting until it comes to life.
