Hello! We want to share our inherited abstract art collection by Ed Smiley. The Smiley family and I have chosen Saatchiart because Ed used this platform to sell his other paintings. Check us out on instagram at edsmileyart for the most recent pieces. Have a great day! About the artist: Ed was a well-known Santa Cruz artist. In 2015 he was named one of "50 Memorable Artists 2015" by Didi Menendez and John Seed. Smiley used laser jet prints made by scanning images while moving them and transferred them directly into the paint and removed the paper entirely and combined that with direct gestural painting. Artist statement: “I believe in the elusive. I believe in the poetic. I believe in ecstasy and in joy. If there is night, dawn approaches. Color is life. I choose to express myself in an abstract way. This for me is the purest pursuit of reality, a reality that is fundamentally hilarious and entangled. For me narrative dilutes vision. I believe visual works are neither theory nor text and should not too easily be put into words. Taste is overrated” Awards: July 2017 "Science, Technology and The Future of Art" Pacific Art League Palo Alto CA (First Prize Winner)-Juror: Susanne Forchheimer. "50 Memorable Painters 2015" Poets and Artists magazine, curated by John Seed and Didi Menendez February 6th-26th, 2015 Pacific Art League Juried Show Palo Alto CA "Abstractions, Pure Color, Shape, Form & Imagination!" (Second Prize Winner)
