ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Crinale is Italian for "ridge." This collection was inspired by my relationship to the Blue Ridge Mountains where I grew up. My ancestors don't come from North Carolina. I'm the first person in my family to have been raised in the south. ButI think the land beneath our feet connects me to the people who have lived here more than genetics ever could. This connection is explored in the work through line drawing suggesting knots and stitching, and the landscapes themselves.
