Crossing Painting

This painting is loosely based on the street where I live, I love gazing down the tree lined boulevards from the middle of the road as I cross over the street and how the trees create a passage like vortex perspective to stare down into the light of day. I took what I learned from the Waikiki painting process of the rhythms used with the sanded black over the top and used it for Crossing I like how it somehow gives the painting an hallucinatory quality, a secret nod to Gaudi! I build many layers and different pictures, landscapes and ideas with acrylic paint and sand back through the paintings history and time manifesting sometimes familiar or sometimes abstract aesthetics.
