Art Description

Painting: Oil on Canvas.

This work was inspired by an experience high up on the North Yorkshire moors, where the world looks round, and the landscape seems to enfold you. Far away I could see Roseberry Topping and the sea. The title 'Crow Hill' is from a poem by Ted Hughes for Emily Bronte. There are layers of oil paint that have been rubbed back in places. The left hand side goes out slightly where the paint has been thickly applied (see detail). This gives the painting an organic, object-like feel.
