Painting: Gouache, Acrylic, Watercolor, Wax on Wood.
I like to use wax resist when drawing, and here I have used wax to create the cruciform shape on Japanese paper. I can't see it when I am drawing it so this method employs the element of chance. I have then used Japanese watercolours to colour the paper and reveal the image. This small paper cross has then been collaged onto a wood panel that I have prepared with many layers of gouache and acrylic to make an interesting and vibrant visual texture. Finally the work is varnished to protect the paper.
It would be best framed, and a good framer can advise the most suitable frame for your home. Please hang away from direct sunlight.
