Since Curaçao became known as a striking blue liquor, one may forget that it's named after a Dutch Caribbean island just north of Venezuela. It has those dazzling blue pools, harbors and reefs. I began with a with strong, but clear glaze of process cyan, mixing and scraping cerulean blue and turquoise green towards my sun, popping some yellow and red sparks away from this hot, white center. Some of those rays slowly vibrate in slow, wavy orange strings. The next day, I laid down glistening pearlescent sparks and arrows using the edge of my palette knife. They strike out from the intense heat, and direct your eyes back to the stunning rays of sun.

Curaçao Sola arrives prewired, ready to hang.
