ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This a four 20" x 20" panel "frieze" (20" x 80") of the changes of light from dawn, to morning, to afternoon, and to dusk. The work is intended to be experienced and the colors provoke different sensations. Each panel color is separate but blends into the next. They can be hung in a row, vertically or as a square. They are created with oil pastel on a textured surface. The technique used was oil pastel and oil paint on a textured ground. The color placement is called, "flochetage": complimentary colors and flecks of color as used by Delacroix and Cezanne.
