A sci-fi novel called "The Dark Forest" loosely inspired this burn canvas painting. I used my experimental burn canvas method which involves spraying water on a horizontal canvas and using a blowtorch to draw. That method can create lively forms from a destructive process. Concerning the subject I was looking to create an abstract celestial forest that had a hint of threat to it. This mimics the sci-fi inspiration that responds to the Fermi Paradox (where are all the aliens?) with the answer, "they're all hiding because it's dangerous to be visible." The painting is on heavy duty stretcher bars and heavy raw canvas. Ready to hang.
