Dark Goddess Painting

The Dark Goddess is inspired by deep emotions I feel through life and death, a form of escapism. The image is created to captivate, arouse and awaken the mind, emitting waves of emotions through It's colours and additional materials. The lights incarcerate the darkness while appearing to guide the goddess from the darkness, encouraging freedom and peace from the entrapment of emotions, cleansing the soul through prayer. The Diamantes are connatations of the heart, the sparkle scattered, expressing a lost heart struggling to shine. The pearls, smooth and solid, the veins pumping hope and belief into the goddess... keeping the beauty she beholds, alive. I chose acrylics to paint with due to its strength in texture, allowing me to express the dominance of emotions.
