Painting: Acrylic, Spray Paint on Wood.
This is the newest painting in the Tribal Love David Bowie Tribute Series.
Inspired while listening to David's music. The many layers to David Jones/Bowie's creative explorations and consistent need for spontaneity in his work I feel absolutely akin to.
In January 2016 after hearing of David's passing I dove immediately and spontaneously into this series. Learning more and more about David as an artist and fellow being sent me on a path to NYC. With the incredible support of the building owners beside David and Iman's home, I painted a large mural and spent months living in the Nolita neighborhood. Then, just a few months later I was painting live while David's band played a global goodwill concert in NYC and in LA.
During my time in NYC, I was so immersed in the energy there and found myself often at the right place at the right time. Resulting in connecting with so many vibrant opportunities and generous, inspiring new friends for life.
I truly love New York city and often spend time there.
This painting came to life as I was flowing with the memories while David's music filled, my space.
Right after I finished it a wonderful gallery sent me this quote...a perfect reminder for beings to be true and flow with the impulses of their own (creative) journey.
“The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web.” Pablo Picasso
