Day Dreamer Painting

Born in Shipley, West Yorkshire in 1962 ,my work comes very much from my inner self ,sometimes I don't know what I'm painting until its on the canvas ,I use my instinct to select the colours I use on my paintings and let my creativity flow when composing most pieces ,although sometimes i do paint or draw real life scenes I'm much prefer to create an image from within. I have been inspired by many things in my life, the fantastic views of the near by Lake District, to the greed of bank directors., my youth, growing up in Yorkshire and happy memories of holidays in British resorts. Living in a small village near to Haworth where the Bronte Sisters lived, and worked is a great inspiration ,I can understand where they got the inspiration to become great looking at the environment surrounding me. I love to create works and the greatest reward for this is to see my work hanging on walls. I started to paint and draw when i was about 6, my teacher at primary school was an artist and gave me great encouragement. By the age of 11 i had won a competition for my school in my local town .Unfortunately, by my teens the urge to be creative was put on hold because i had lost interest after been told that it was more important to concentrate on more practical things at school because art would not bring offers of work.After suffering with depression for 15 years, I returned to my creative side which is the best thing I've done in my life.
