Daymer Bay Painting

This painting was painted on the beach in Cornwall. All done plein air in just one session. I was interested in the beautiful rocks on the right of the picture, and the contrast of the big open sky against the spit of headland with it's strong green vegetation. The late morning summer sun gave the whole scene a glow, and I had to prop my drawing board against a convenient boulder, with a flat ledge on it. Halfway through a group of people decided to have a picnic in the foreground, and offered to buy the painting if I included them in it ! I declined the kind offer and pretended, that they weren't there.
