'Days of Elijah' is part of a series of paintings I produced in the last two years. These paintings are inspired by my childhood experiences within a controlling, cult-like branch of fundamental Christianity and seek to explore patriarchal institutions of control, masculinity, and the role of ritual and conformity in religious fundamentalism.

Drawing on my childhood experiences within a controlling branch of fundamentalist Christianity, I create paintings and installations that examine and critique institutions of totalitarian control. My paintings are inspired by religious imagery and explore traditional depictions of authoritarian power structures and patriarchal authority. My aim with these works is to examine the complex psychological dynamics inherent within institutional power structures and stimulate discussion about the roles that religion, authority and control play in contemporary society.
