Dear Conscience, Painting

Dear Conscience, was inspired by two methods of handwriting: “greeking”—a style of rendering text, taught in design courses, and the “Palmer Method”—penmanship instruction dating back to the late 19th century. I am interested in abstracting the recognizable patterns of handwriting, emphasizing form over details, acknowledging the tactile and personal nature of this form of communication that has become a lost art. Acrylic painting on birch panel. Matte varnish. Edges of painting finished with very dark grey color. Can be framed or hung as is (mounted with picture wire).
