ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Acrylic painting on canvas with wood frame. My inspiration comes from many places, I love colours, so how nature combine colours is one source of inspiration. It´s always a challenge to paint with acrylic since colors change when dried, especially thick layers with dark ´s tricky to get the colors right. I like to paint with smaller brushes to achieve more of a texture on the canvas. As in all of my paintings, I explore colours and compositions and how they play to together in an abstract space. I hope my artwork will bring a sense of balance and harmony for the eye and mind.

David Larsson was born in 1968 in Lulea, Sweden and is an established industrial designer MFA based in Stockholm, Sweden. He began his studies at the Art Center College of Design (ACCD) in Switzerland to later complete his studies at Umeå Institute of Design in Sweden in 1995. David's production includes limited editions of e.g. furniture, bicycles and lighting. He has received a number of international design awards for his design. In the early 2000s, David began experimenting with painting, mainly in acrylic and gouache, but also with screen-printing, as a natural development of his design work. One can discern a desire to reach beyond the two-dimensional. David works primarily in a purely geometric and non-figurative style where composition, color and perspective are important components in his work. The three-dimensional space is a central starting point for David's art. One can imagine influences in his work from e.g. Olle Baertling, but also elements from Victor Vasarelis perspective world.
