The goal of this body of work is to entice the viewer into a new kind of everyday life experience. With painting, mixed-media, collage, and sculpture, these pieces invite viewers to connect and invest more fully with their day-to-day. The spaces encourage conversations and questions with strange combinations of patterns based on home textiles and figures and scenes found in my own life as well as the lives of strangers. Handmade decorative frames serve to elevate the works to the realm of shrines and altars to everyday life.

Becky Bailey lives and works out of Ithaca, NY. Her interdisciplinary work blends painting, printmaking, collage, sculpture, and design. With a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Pennsylvania and a background in textile design, her art practice and design work often bleed into one another. Her mixed-media approach results in vivid, dream-like scenes that suggest a mythic reframing of current circumstances. Through an often fantastical lens, the work explores daily struggles, shared experiences, and solidarity between individuals. Becky has completed residencies at The Studios at MASS MoCA as well as ChaShaMa’s ChaNorth artist residency, and has shown work in exhibitions across the U.S., including New York, Philadelphia, Nebraska, and Massachusetts.
