Every year for 5 years this beautiful orchid has sat in a bowl of water and given me these gorgeous pink blooms. I have painted it many times using acrylics and watercolors. But this spring, I wanted to do something a little different. So, I decided to use only transparent watercolors. I snapped a picture of the flower looking down on it, a unique way of looking at its pink petal forms. I liked the abstracted look of this photo and decided I should try creating a work from this image. This painting was created to bring peace and happiness to all who view and love orchids as much as I. "DENDROBIUM IN PINK" is a transparent wc painting created on 140lb CP Arches paper. This watercolor painting will arrived encased in a acid free mat and foam core that measures 24"x 30". The painting does not include a frame. It is ready for your frame choice.

Elise Meredith Beattie was born and educated in New York City. Beattie is a nationally recognized award winning artist & instructor. She is also a well known advocate of arts education and creative thought. Elise's art is influenced by her imagination, but in her work she likes to step beyond the reality of what is seen preferring to paint her feelings. The artist call this process: painting with her mind’s eye. Beattie's goal is to allow her emotions to mix with inspiration and create a fusion of representation and abstraction. Using numerous layers of poured watercolor and acrylics she creates cloaks of mystery; continuously redirecting her interpretation of reality. Eventually Beattie's feelings, pours and the patterns created, transform her imagination to become a painting inspired by passion’s gift. Beattie exhibits regularly at many national and international art shows. The artist's numerous accomplishments include being the recipient of a Blanchette Hooker Rockefeller Foundation Grant for a solo exhibit called (Short Stories from the road less traveled ...)in New York City. The artist's work has been honored with numerous awards.
