Deplorable Painting

During the 2016 Presidential Election Campaign, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton used the controversial phrase "Basket of Deplorables" in referring to the passionate, die-hard supporters of frenetic Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, which among other events may have cost her the election. In April 2018, an action was taken by President Trump and his administration - coined the "Family Separation Policy" - alarmed the country and reminded older citizens of the brutal internment camps of the 1930s and 40s. It was a wholly deplorable act. Seeing small children being ripped out of the arms of mothers at the U.S.-Mexico border (for seeking a better and safer life for their children and families) is a shocking sight for most people and warns of the horrors of authoritarian regimes of the past. The highly contentious and confrontational policy was the most devastating act of the Trump presidency up to that point. The public, media, and lawmakers (most particularly, the Democrats, but also many Independents and scores of Republicans) were outraged.
