About The Artwork

Shortly after moving to Arizona, my husband past away. Weeks later he came to me one night telling me to paint this and I would sell it. I thought it was a dream but I did paint one very similar to this one and I titled it "My Non-Velvet Southwestern Adobe Painting". My touch of humor is more in the title of this one. I really didn't believe I would sell it. I didn't have canvas, so I used 300# w/c paper that was 22"H x 28"W, used acrylics and then had it framed by a local framer. I took it to the gallery I was working at and just a few weeks later I sold it for $3000.00 WOW! I couldn't believe it. So, I painted another one. This is slightly different, it is on canvas in acrylics and bigger. Size: 24"H x 36"W x 1.25"D, painted on the sides, signed front & back, wire, ready to hang. The coyote welcomes all the guests to this adobe hotel in the desert along with a welcome sign by the front door. Notice the sign by the coyote says "Vacancy". I used bright mexican colors to make everyone smile. Just a fun painting!

Carol has been a professional artist for over fifty years, mastering calligraphy, watercolors and now acrylics. She studied at the Cooper School of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, and took many private classes but considers herself to be a self taught artist. Using lots of detail, layering bright and bold colors and sometimes a touch of humor, has won her many awards. She continues to win awards today. She has been published and has a painting in the Postal Museum of the Smithsonian. She will be a featured artist with the Mayo Galleries in Arizona later this year. Carol likes to draw the viewer into her paintings using her particular style. She loves nature and enjoys painting flowers, land/seascapes and some abstracts. She applies a lot of layering in her paintings no matter the subject matter. Always wanting to improve her skills, she taught herself how to use the palette knife. Her latest series of Moon In Africa Series is a fine example of those bright colors contrasting with the moon and the animal silhouettes. Most of her paintings are available in print through FineArtAmerica.com and through LouisLeonardArt.com It is an honor and a privilege that Carol has been invited again to be a featured artist with the Mayo Clinic Galleries in Phoenix Arizona beginning in February 21,2023 to May 23, 2023. Her main goal with her art is to make people smile. "Life needs more joy and a painting should give the viewer joy. A happy painting is my way of giving back to those who view or buy them".
