ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Thicket is a very intricate work with a lot of layers on cotton rag paper. I first made an ink underpainting and then added gouache and spray paint. I wiped off some gouache and added it again and I went back and forth - taking off colour and adding colour, wiping, dabbing and patting it off and on. With a little twig - to get irregularity - I added lines. I sell Thicket with a white mat! The actual artwork in inches is 7.9'' x 7.9''. With mat it is 11.8'' x 11.8''.

ARTIST STATEMENT: Life is a largely subjective experience; but that subjective experience is my bridge to the objective world. And it’s this synthesis of the two that I am trying to capture. INSPIRATION AND PROCESS: I love experimenting and want to give my works an individual expression. I have two lines of work: I love painting almost (but not quite) realistic, somewhat utopian, nature images and on the other hand I really enjoy doing non-objective/abstract art. I am inspired by the beauty and power of natural phenomena, the mystery of nature, its colors and forms. Every painting is a one-of-a-kind work in which I try to combine feeling and thought. I work most of the time with acrylics but I also mix acrylics with other media such as oil pastel, soft pastel, spray paint, graphite and charcoal or ink. All materials I use, if canvas, paper or paints are of artist quality.
