Digital Painting

This piece represents the the hidden world of quantum mechanics and the blurred lines between digital and analogue. Well respected physicists now claim the universe is likely to be a digital virtual reality that is generated through consciousness. I wanted the viewer to experience a clearly defined architecture within what appears to be relatively random patterns that reflects the world we live in. As the CNC cutting took a while on the last piece I chose to outsource this to @cuttingedge_cnc in Lewes. The 6mm MDF pieces came back really clean with little to no sanding required. I went for a dark smooth primary colour with a satin lacquer to assimilate a vinyl record and the lime green shades to pop against the dark grey. I used my Apollo HVLP spray gun to obtain the required finish. I also switched the frame at the last minute as I had a frame outsourced but the measurements were 2mm out and I wasn’t keen on the finish, so I built a thinner lighter pinewood frame and bevelled the curved edges to perfectly blend into the front layer.
