The inspiration for Mara Ruehls new work series "Disbalance" came from Covid-19.

We humans are subject to the mistaken belief that we can keep everything under control. And this worldwide crisis - caused by a living being invisible to the human eye - suddenly turns our entire existence upside down. Suddenly nothing is the way it was. We are made aware that our created securities are nothing more than an illusion. Nothing grows infinitely - not even our economy, of which we have always assumed this. From one day to the next we are confronted with the fact that our previous interpersonal, ecological and economic values need to be reconsidered urgently if we do not want our entire existence to be thrown off balance.
