The outfit is correct. The location is an error. A formal suit sits in a room that defies explanation. The floor vibrates with color, the mountain stands like a backdrop, and the figure waits with absolute seriousness. Nothing matches. These elements share a space but not a reality. It is a portra...

Sabire Başel Algül is a multidisciplinary artist based in Turkey whose work explores the cognitive dissonance of the contemporary human condition. Holding a BFA in Painting from the prestigious Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Algül combines a strong academic foundation with ten years of experience as an art instructor and illustrator. This diverse background has allowed her to develop a unique visual language she defines as 'New Naivety'—a deliberate deconstruction of reality where the intuitive forms of storytelling meet the structural discipline of painting. In her current body of work, Algül creates theatrical, dreamlike environments where unrelated objects and faceless figures coexist. Her compositions often feature sharp juxtapositions: domestic furniture placed in wild forests, or vibrant colors masking a sense of deep isolation. By stripping her subjects of their identities and placing them in displaced settings, she challenges the viewer’s perception of memory, space, and connection. Algül’s work acts as a mirror to modern life; colorful and playful on the surface, yet complex and solitary underneath. She invites the observer to witness the absurdity of the "normal" and to question the invisible walls we build around ourselves.
