About The Artwork

The collection Distinct knowledge brings together a series of abstract compositions by the artist Nadia Porro, which operate under an ontological budget. Her art has its origins in life and spirit that constitute a mystical character in her perception of the universe and philosophy of art. Through energetic and material brushstrokes, the beauty of her paintings lies in the chromatic richness and formal simplification. It is the representation of the essence of art that goes beyond what we can know in the earthly reality. It is a collection that invites us to reflect on our daily lives, as well as to ask the most substantial questions. Human beings tirelessly seek the path to cosmic balance, to spiritual harmony, and to the truth as the disorderly and dizzying daily life has them plunged into great confusion. In this way, Porro's works emerge as an anaesthetic gesture, a praxis that initiates self-awareness. Distinct knowledge offers a diaphanous look, through which the spectator achieves a connection with the structure of the world. In other words, it is about abstracting the public from the superficial and transitory aspect of things to approach the essence of the universe through the contemplation of the paintings. Porro's art is the union between abstract visual compositions and her philosophy. It is a style on the threshold of the tradition of abstraction and experimentation, of the immediate and the permanent, perception and representation, the palpable and the intangible, myth and reflection. In a time when most societies are governed by materialism, the gestural, self-referential, and abstract are the expression of existentialism. Ready to hang. The artist Nadia Porro was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. She studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Boston University when she lived some years in that city. Her art is on the threshold of modernity and traditional techniques. Porros's abstract paintings reflect her inspiration from modern artists such as Malevich, Kandinskiy and Hiroshi Matsumoto, but at the same time, her technique is influenced by the master classes she has taken from different artists. Porro is a cultivated artist with a passion for travel. An admirer of fine art, she likes to visit the Hermitage Museum for inspiration. She also often visits opera, classical music and ballet theaters. Her knowledge and interests are resources for her particular style that juxtaposes abstraction and the depth of her message.
