About The Artwork

oil and cold wax on stretched linen canvas staple-free sides are white canvas wired and ready to hang Art making for me is a balancing of contemplation and expression where I strive for release of control and immersion into intuitive creative process and identification with Nature. Through the creative process and connection to Nature, I rely on feeling and empathy, sensitivity to my surroundings and medium, and the artwork’s surface and process, all the while seeking honesty of experience and expression, and acceptance of what materializes which is often felt as a spiritual synthesis. My art and process bring to my mind the awe and joy as well as the sense of freedom and renewal found through a connection to Nature. www.pswyatt.com

Paige Smith-Wyatt is a contemporary American painter.  She began painting at an early age and studied art with a concentration in painting at Huntingdon College (BA), art therapy and creativity development at Pratt Institute (MPS), and contemplative art making/art education at Florida State University (PhD). For Paige, painting is a contemplative and expressive practice rooted in identification with Nature: “Nature has been my greatest teacher and has solidified my understanding of life and painting. This involves a reliance on feeling and empathy, sensitivity to my being, surroundings, and medium, and the artwork’s surface, color, and process to achieve a visceral synthesis." Paige’s work has been exhibited and sold throughout the United States and internationally. She has lived and created amongst the people and landscapes of New Mexico, Alabama, Virginia, Nevada, Texas, New York, Hawaii, North Dakota, the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in Montana, and now lives and paints in Corrales, New Mexico.
