Provoking? Controversial artwork has been shocking folks for centuries. From Rodin’s “Gates of Hell” to Banksy’s self-destructing art-shredding moment at Sotheby’s. I like to think my art depicts the story of “The Art of Being Human.” I’m presenting this oil painting portrait titled, “Don’t F*** With Me” as my tribute to all the women who stand up! The title may be a bit shocking, but honestly, I hope the world gets used to tough, uncompromising women. Really, the world adored James Dean as the teenage rebel way back in the 1950’s. I think it’s about time, the world adores women with the same intrigue. Reference photo: The moment I saw the muse (Alli Dem’s image/Sktchy App) I knew I had to paint this badass woman. I hope “Don’t F*** With Me,” provokes you in some way. Let me know! _____ 3 Questions & Answers About This Artwork What/Who inspired the work? All the brave women out there (past and present) who stand up! Kamala, RGB, Greta Thunberg, Amanda Gorman, Allyson Felix, Billie Jean King. The list goes on and on! And of course the beautiful muse for this painting - Alli Dem. What do I hope the viewers of this painting will feel/think? When you look at this painting, I hope you see formidable emotion, bold strength, and the beauty in that strength. Why did I choose the medium, subject matter, style?I chose oil painting medium for the drama, rich colors and bold contrast of the subject's red lips and black hair. I chose the young woman, Alli Dem, as the subject for her badass demeanor.

Wife, mom, artist, graphic designer, bookworm! “Art brings people together.” With my paintings, I tell stories that cross traditional barriers such as gender, age, income, education & race to help us understand the most important art of all — "The art of being human.” "Every Painting Tells a Story." I love to paint people. The human face and figure is the most captivating subject for me. I enjoy painting the snippets of life. Capturing folks enjoying a summer afternoon in Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia or children having summer fun in a city park. I paint everyday people and moments in life. The goal of my work is to make a connection with the viewer. I hope in some small way, my work sends a message out into the world. A message of hope, of change and of social justice. I hope, that when my art hangs in your home, it provokes thought and meaning to you. Awards • I am honored to have received a "Knight Foundation" cash honorarium in connection with the Free Library of Philadelphia's Cultureshare program. • Best Emerging Artist. 2019 Manayunk Arts Festival. • Honorable Mention. 2018 Manayunk Arts Center Annual Juried Show. • "Philadelphia Stories."
