This large abstract painting was inspired by repetative structures that seem perfectly uniform from a distance, but show more irregularity when observed closely. Like a woven fabric, tiled floor, or fence posts; or the repetitive chemical structures of solid materials like salts, crystals or polymers, repetitive forms that seem perfectly uniform and evenly spaced from a distance but have a slight degrees of irregularity when looked at more closely.

I enjoyed painting the circles with a free hand, instead of drafting perfect circles and then filling them in for instance, to highlight this imperfection in making the grid.

Aside from any elaborate intentions, this painting is simply beautiful. It was created with multiple layers of different colored paint giving an effect of changing colors in varying amounts of light. When hung near a window, the painting seems to change colors throughout the day, revealing purples, reds and pinks along with hints of blue and green.

Gallery-wrapped sides are painted red and comes with hardware installed ready to hang vertically or horizontally.
