Dreams Before Us Painting

This painting was inspired by the entrance to New Zealands' famous Milford Sound, technically picturing Gertrudes Saddle. During a 3 month roadtrip around the country, the landscapes and culture inspired me to create this painting, Milford Sound National Park in particular. The painting exudes of calm, peace, or moodiness. The pattern top center is inspired by a Maori wedding tapa weaving. I hope the piece inspires a sense of calm, and inspiration to brave the elements and enjoy a day of misty magic. I chose artist grade oils as they are my favorite medium (in general) and for creating a foggy mist effect. I like to create my works in a style that is realistic enough for the viewers to feel like they could wander into the painting. The painting is mildy textured, with visible brush strokes. The back is wired and ready to hang.
