Dressed in Black Lyrics Painting

This work is inspired by my interest in fashion and portraiture. I want the viewer to be uplifted by the beauty and sensitivity of the image. The work is intended to be decorative and yet to divulge a certain subtlety in mood by revealing a confident and yet demure persona. Although the work displays physical beauty It also reflects the presence of a specific individual. Trained as a painter, in the traditional sense, I have always been passionate about fashion and textiles. In my recent work I have combined these elements. The work is drawn and machine stitched freehand from behind onto primed canvas and then washed with acrylics on the front to add detail and emphasis to the purity and tactile quality of the stitched line.
