Showed at the The Other Art Fair
Artist featured in a collection
I made this painting because I was intrigued by Romanticism and the Hudson River School painters. Specifically, I liked the mood in Thomas Cole's painting, "The Oxbow." I used many variations of gray painting to pick up the subtle colors in the clouds. I mixed complementary colors such as blue and orange to get the muted hues to convey the feeling of dusk. I practice glazing, which is a technique used to show veils of color layered on top of each other. This painting is varnished for protection, and has a wooden lattice frame. The frame is painted gray.
